This is simply a great track. Start to finish, movement to movement, strings to beats, ALL GOOD. I got this on CDR a while ago, and immediately knew it'd own my headphones for the rest of this year. rEalm's original version is a rolling, lush, active track with groove & thrust to spare. The textures & sound programming are pristine, and the choice of sampled phrase is genius. Some people would grab a good sample such as this track's and beat it to death, but instead, rEalm constrains himself, and really puts it to use in the best possible places. The bass line & zippy pad action make for a tune that never grows old, and always keeps your attention. This track alone, even with the most horrendous remix on the flip, would earn a 5. Luckily, the flip's remix is just as good. Be&See rejig the entire cut to pound a bit harder, and lose much of the more atmospheric elements. Or at least, that's what it seems like at first. The real suprise is that while the track is heavier & driven by a truely unique and effective bassline, a BRILLIANT breakdown is waiting in the wings. Gentle strings and deep drums glide down into a freestyle snare workout (which has to be heard before you understand just how good it is), then the breakdown rushes back up into a full-on breakbeat frenzy and finishes out the cut. Check it out, you will like it. If I could give a 12" more than 5 'stars', this is one of them. BUY IT.
